What are the Weber River Rapids Like, Anyway?

Start your day on the river with a pickup at your lodging location, or opt to meet at the put-in site. At the river, our guides outfit you with a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) and give a comprehensive safety talk before launching the rafts.

The action starts quickly with a rapid right around the first bend. After the initial drop you will navigate your way through the boulders leading to the calmer water below. Two more drops, the swim eddy and numerous waves wait for you between the first drop and the red sandstone canyon section which is home to the “Rock Garden.”

The river cuts though a stunning canyon comprised of red and orange sandstone conglomerate rock that has formed arches, caves and precariously balanced rocks. Don’t forget to keep an eye on the water though, the Rock Garden is our most technical section of river requiring precise moves and quick paddling.

After the canyon, the geology transitions to layers of uplifted limestone from an ancient sea bottom.  This creates the Devils Slide, one of the most unique rock formations in Northern Utah. Just downstream is Croyden’s Wave, a popular play spot for kayakers and a great splash in the raft. The trip wraps up with a run along a limestone cliff ending with a splash from Taggart Falls!

Once the float is complete, after loading up the boats, we will bring you back to our launch site. You will have earned the hearty sandwich, fresh potato chips and cookies waiting for you if you opt in for lunch.
